Create a Profile That Will Grab Attention.

Creating an interesting and accurate profile is an important step for successful online dating.

Shake off any jitters you may have, and write about yourself with confidence.  Self-assurance is a real aphrodisiac, you know.  Not sure what to say?  Start by thinking about comments your friends have made about what makes you such a great catch.

Talk about what interests you, what's important to you, what you value in life and love.  And avoid generics statements at all costs.  Saying you "like going out or just having a quiet evening at home" or are "as comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt as evening wear" won't give anyone a real sense of what makes you special.

Proofread your profile before you post it.  Typos are a turnoff, spelling errors aren't sexy, and grammatical goofs guarantee that some singles will move on to the next match on the list.  Run your spellchecker and give your work a final read before you post it; carelessness could cost you the date of your dreams.

Create an eye-catching headline.  Here's your first chance to flirt, display your sense of humor, say something romantic, anything that will capture a little taste of who you are and why someone should want to get to know you.  Avoid generic statements like "looking for love" (that's why everyone is here) or anything that smacks of desperation (words like "lonely").

Most importantly be honest about yourself.  Remember, there's someone for everyone out there, so don't try to shoehorn yourself into a category where you don't belong; you'll just make it harder to be found by someone who'd really like to meet you.
